Please meet your Counsellor, Karen Hvidding
In 2001, I began working overseas with people in institutional care (orphanages, hospitals, and youth residential centres). During the time I spent there (7 years), I developed an interest in creative arts therapies and how it can be used to help people heal from the harm done to them by others.
I love to help people make sense of the things that have happened to them and my number one passion is helping people work through Trauma in a creative way.
Right now, I work as a Sexual Assault Specialist Counsellor and a Private Practitioner Therapist. I have a Master’s of Social Work (UQ) a Master’s of Art Therapy (WSU) and a Bachelors of English.
A little about Karen's life
I live in Queensland with my best friend on five acres where we spend a lot of time outdoors growing things and tending chickens. I love my three dogs. I also love to read, take long walks, and spend time sitting outside "just thinking".
